Who did you send your iPod to for battery replacement that they didn't just replace the battery as requested? I have the same model and the battery is clearly losing capacity. Before long, I'll probably replace it myself.

The current version of iTunes requires 10.3.9. You'll have to run Software Update.

i cant update software now cause of lack of money.also im stuck at 10.3.8 because the quicktime 7 issue with pro tools 6.4.so if i upgrade it will be costly in many ways (digidesign/mac etc)but i sent the ipod in towards the end of last year..
and they sent it back saying the battery was fine and it was in good shape and would last longer.i know it was awhile but the battery was shifty at that point and i know there were plenty of issues with that model of ipod.i would be completely happy if they made good on it and made it work again and for the system i am currently running which is panther 10.3.8.everything is fairly smooth at the moment.as far as upgrading i need a lot of $$.Benny

I'm not suggesting the need to upgrade to Tiger, though I understand your compatibility issue. I don't know whether the new nano will work with the version of iTunes you're using.

In any case, since you're confident the battery is the issue, why not replace it?

You keep returning, Benny, with an implication that the only way out is to upgrade, and I keep replying with curiosity as to why you don't replace your old iPod's battery. Again, I suggest you either send it to iResQ for replacement ($55) or buy the battery replacement kit ($25), which comes with the tools you need to do it yourself.

i went to apple they told me it was 75$ to get a new battery and a lot more if its something else..i have to make sure it was the battery. And if its the hard drive or something else there you go.it can get real expensive.it does not power on at all.i didnt know about that service i will call me friend and hopefully figure it out by next week.i did want to buy a new one and thats how i found out about all the upgrading junk..thanks..Benny

Only Apple will charge you an arm and a leg for battery replacement. Have you followed basic troubleshooting steps?, like holding Menu+Select for 5–10 seconds to restart the iPod.

Otherwise, I'll close your question and you can open a new one next week if you need.
