I copied my itunes library from my PB 12" (itunes 4.7) to my new Mac Mini (itunes 4.8), started itunes on the Mac Mini, authorized it and it works great. Can play songs on the mini, etc.

Plugged in the shuffle, Mac Mini said hi, music on the shuffle was accessable and playable. Plugged in the 4G mini-ipod, same thing.

Plugged in the 20G IPOD, the Mac mini recognized it but all the music on the 20G is greyed out and itunes won't let me put new music on it!

Plugged the 20G ipod back into the PB, same thing, all the music is greyed out now.

I'm sure it has something to do with how i transfered the library from the PB.

Anyone had similar problems and a soltuion?

Hi Greg,

I'm Kevin and I will try and help you with your problem. Thanks for using macosx.com

The reason your 20GB iPod is showing all the songs greyed out is because you have it set to automatically update all songs and playlists. To change this, plug your 20GB iPod into either of your computers then go to the Preferences in iTunes, select the iPod icon, then click on the radio button next to "Manually manage songs and playlists."

These settings are set on the iPod itself, that is why you get a different thing with each iPod.

Regards Kevin

that did the trick, thanks!

I assume that itunes will continue to autosync new music to the Ipods upon docking?

No, they will only auto sync if you have that selected. In manual mode you will have to drag the songs and playlists you want to the iPod.
