From iSync Help: If you have iTunes 4.8 or later installed, you use iTunes, not iSync, to sync contacts and calendars to your iPod.

Also, Tiger simply uses iTunes instead of iSync to Sync files to the iPod.

Go into iTunes & Music Store Help to find more info about setting up the iPod for Syncing - it's basically just plugging in the iPod, similar to transferring music playlists

You still have to update to a newer version of iTunes
download here - http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
but before you try this install - drag the iTunes that you already have to the trash, and empty the trash. And then - find the file named itunes4.pkg and trash that, too. You'll find this file in the /Library/Reciepts folder. You can also trash any other files in the folder that have the name iTunes.
You should also try a 'find' for any other application with the name iTunes, and delete. I suspect that you have a second iTunes, and that is the one you are actually launching

Restart, then reinstall that new version of iTunes that you just downloaded.

Let me know how it goes
