Hello.

Your problem Is probably a filesystem error in the iPod. I suggest opening Disk Utility (Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility), and seeing if the iPod shows up there as a disk. If it does, try selecting it and clicking the "Mount" button on your toolbar.

If it will not mount, but does show up in the list, quit Disk Utility, and open the iPod Software Updater. (Better yet--download the newest version, install it, and open it. http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/ ) Once the Updater is Installed and Open, the iPod and information should show up in the window. Click Restore, and wait for the process to complete. (note: this will erase all data on your iPod. All music stays in your iTunes and will be re-copied to your iPod, no worries.) Once done, follow any other instructions the iPod and/or Updater presents you, then connect your iPod and set it up in iTunes.

If it will not mount and does not appear in the list, nor the Updater, you sould contact Apple Support.

Hope this helps,
