Hi I bought my Ipod Mini 4GB 4 months ago.
I looked in all the forums. Troubleshooting sides,etc,...BUT!!
- I made a restart
- I restored my Ipod with updated software
- I checked diagnostics HDD ok Battery OK
- I even let the batteries run out
But still my Ipod wont mount.
It's been recognized by my PC. I can upload new music. When I am in disk-mode the batterystatus shows that is charged.
Are there any "tricks" to get my Ipod running? Or should I sent it back? (which is difficult, because at the moment I am working in a country in which theres no apple-dealer.)
Please Help!!!

Hi William,
Let me get this straight: your iPod won't mount on your computer? Do you have a Mac and a PC, or only a PC? Are you able to use the iPod normally, or not? Does it do anything, like get stuck in a restart-loop?
Thanks,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,
thanks for the fast reply.
I have only a PC.
I can not use the Ipod at all, but when I connect it to my PC in "diskmode" all features are available via the PC.
When I return the I-pod in the normal mode it shows the Apple Symbol and freezes again.
Like I said: I made a restart, loaded the updater and this all worked. afterwards I connected it to the AC-adapter. The Ipod showed that the firmware was updated. But after that: Dead again!!
Hope you find a solution.
Best regards,
William

Hm so you can connect your iPod to your computer, and you can access it normally from the computer?
But once you unplug it, it resets and freezes up at the Apple logo? Does it go into a resetting-loop?
Try resetting the iPod by holding down the Select button and the Menu button at the same time until it resets.

Hi,
thanks for the reply
Yes I can access it normally from the computer in disk mode.
But as soon I reset it the apple Logo shows up and it gives a blank screen again.

And you're sure you have the latest iPod software installed on your computer? How is the iPod connected - USB or FireWire? Through a port already on your computer or through a PCI card?

Hi,
yes I installed the latest software. The Ipod is connected by USB-port on my computer.

And you are reformatting it with the iPod utility program? Try doing that one more time, and if that doesn't help, you'll probably have to contact Apple, since there could be something physically wrong in there... has it ever worked before?
