Description:
Using a USRobotics Courier I for ISDN modem connected to this Mac. I have 2 channels (1 dedicated as voice, 1 as fax). I am supposed to be able to use the fax channel to access the internet as well. I use a local ISP that supports the Courier I as well as the 3Com Impact. I also have a scanner (Visioneer PaperPort) that I like to use for faxing hardcopy docs. The Courier I came with MacComCenter communications software for faxing and my ISP provided me with Netscape Navigator for the internet. The problems are that the system often crashes (I have reinstalled system software, run Norton Utilities, had the Mac serviced by Apple technicians), people become frustrated trying to fax to me because the fax doesn't come through or my line is busy when it isn't, I can't send faxes because the handshake doesn't complete. Can you give me any advice on how to smooth out these problems? I have been granted the privilege of working from home for a company in Northern California and many more of these glitches will compromise my position. Help!

I have talked with a couple people here at the office with ISDN, they are both using the CISCO systems 700 series IDSN. First I would look into getting STF for faxing software. It really is the king of the hill in Mac FAXing software. Is there anything in the config of the Courier for fax or recognizing faxes over say tcp/ip traffic?
When do the crashes occur? If you only use the ISDN for internet access are things fine? Does it crashes when you go from fax to internet to fax? Is it crashing during a particular application Netscape or MacComCenter?
With a little more info, we may be able to get through this.
