I just received my new IMac yesterday. It has 10.4.2 installed. I had an older IMac before. I initially transferred all of my applications over via fire wire, and I installed the latest version of the print driver. (I have a Canon IP4000) I am having trouble making PDf's from Quark Xpress. (Yes, I completely reinstalled Quark) The print dialog box is different now too. Is it because of the newer version of OS X? Has anyone experienced this and know what to do?

I am also having trouble with my mouse locking up or not changing. It is random. It seems if I exit what I am trying to do and then go back the cursor then appears.

Run the combo updater to 10.4.3 (the standalone updater that you can download from Apple's download page). That should fix the mouse problem. I'm not that familiar with Quark any more (I switched to InDesign some time ago)and I'm not sure from your description what you mean by making PDFs-is this via Quark or in the Print "Save as PDF" option in OS X?

Before you reinstalled Quark, did your remove any/all parts of Quark you may have transferred over by accident via "target mode" from your older iMac? I'm referring to .plist pref files, plugins, files in the "Application Support" folder, etc. I think Quark does have an uninstaller, so you might want to give that a try and re-reinstall Quark (whatever their latest version is). I know Quark tech support is not good (to put it nicely), and if you search Apple's discussion groups, you'll see that you're not alone, if that's any comfort. Try calling Quark and see if they have any ideas.

I'm not sure what you mean by "the print dialog box is different too." Different from what? What version of OS X were you running on your old iMac? Were you using System 9 or Classic in System 10?

HTH and please let us know what happens.

Thank you. I got the PDf issue resolved. Apparently one of my fonts didn't load properly and it was just dumping it. The frustrating this is other than no PDF being produced, there was nothign that showed any indication of what the problem was.

FYI - On my old machine, I am running 10.3.9.

As far as me saying my print dialog box has changed - when I go to print from Quark on the new computer, the options and manuevers I have to go through are slightly different. It is just enough to be a pain. The other programs I have run so far seem to be pretty straight forward.
