TICKET ARCHIVE -> Items gone from menu bar, can't get them

The clock, input menu, speaker icon and some third-party application icons are missing from my menu bar with no apparent reason. Quicktime and TypeIt4Me icons are still present. Spotlight icon appears and disappears intermittently. I tried restoring the clock and input menu icons via System Preferences, but even after checking "show in menu", nothing changes. Persists after cold boot.

What could be wrong?

OSX 10.4.11, 2x3 GHz Dual Core Intel Xeon, 5GB 667 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM

Try pulling the com.apple.systempreferences.plist from the /library folder (the one right on the hard drive, under applications).

Then restart and see what happens.

sorry the file is in the home library/preferences...

If that file does not do it then test by creating a new user and logging in as that user.. This will allow us to test what library is causing the problem

Removing the file didn't do anything. Creating a new user did--spotlight, time, and sound icons all appear. What do I need to do to fix my regular user account?
