I use airtunes & would like to add a local radio station to my iTunes lineup so that I could listen wireless from an airport express hooked to powered speakers at a remote location

Is there any way to do this--this station is not on the list of addable stations--just something local that I enjoy.

Thanks

Mike.

Some radio stations aren't iTunes compatible. But for ones that are, you can add them by creating a playlist, MY RADIO STATIONS, or the like, and dragging the radio file to it before you play something else.

Hope that helps!

Also, if you can save a file to your desktop for that station from it's website, you can get info and set that file to be opened by iTunes. If that works, then you can add the station as I described.

The station I wanted appears to be one of those that cannot be added--bummer--I tried what you said plus a few other things--even tried placing the streaming address using the advance settings--no dice.

Good try & I appreciate the help.

If I can manage a work-around of some sort , I will let you know--one of the radio stations techs is working on this as well--so far nothing.

They have to set up their streaming for particular software (windows media player being the biggest). Have you tried using Windows Media Player to play the file? If that works you can add it to the list in that app, but not iTunes.

Shall I leave this open so you can try that and get back to me?

They use Adobe flash.

I have it installed but cannot locate it with the finder.

I tried it with Windows MP & went to open URL--no go with the link info I have.

I heard back from the tech at the station & he said that the stream link has not been published due to some technical problems that they hope to have ironed out in the near future.

Without the proper link I have a feeling I am toast anyway.

I have just been playing the station from a web archive in my doc & listening over the computer speakers or by a land line to the stereo speakers.

I am installing airport express stations at several locations throughout the house & was hoping to ad this particular station.

May just be out of luck until proper link is published.

????

Mike.

If it's through Flash then they are streaming it on the web and no file will be available until they provide one. That's the beauty and drawback of flash, you can't deconstruct it to it's parts just by linking to it.
