I have checked the forums and can't find an answer to the following two questions about using iWeb.

1. Is there a way to change the color of the active links to web pages? They always default to gray after enabling them as a hyperlink. The help section is no help.

2. I am publishing to a server which is not .mac. Everything works fine except my RSS feed subscription buttons which are on blog pages . Even with Safari which allows RSS subscriptions, the buttons do not work. Any suggestions?

I, too, have tried to change link colors. The only way was to put the link text in a text box of its own and apply the hyperlink to the text box instead of the text. Then, you can make the text whatever color you like. In retrospect, I expect the link text color is set in the creation of the template, because I assume a template with a dark background has hyperlinks that are lighter in color.

I, too, publish to a non-.Mac server. To make my RSS buttons work, I had to delve into the resources of the iWeb application. (Show package contents of iWeb, open Contents, open Resources.) I found the RSS Subscribe button and dragged in as a separate image, to which I hyperlinked the actual URL of the feed for my site's blog.

You can take a look at these two implementations at www.greendcweek.net. The home page shows the colored Register link at the top. The GreenList page shows the RSS image and link.

Hi Ben,

Thank you so much for your response. I had already done the hyperlink application to the text boxes, but the problem is that it won't always save that way. I had to get hyperlink the text to get the hyperlink to stay on 2 of my text boxes and then I couldn't change the color to have them match the other textboxes which had hyperlinks to the text boxes. Have you encountered the hyperlink saving issue as well? The default color of the template wasn't appropriate because I changed the template background. This seems to be a major flaw with iWeb. I would think that if they were going to allow us to change the template colors, we should be able to change the hyperlink colors as well.

I will try your RSS feed suggestion today!

Thanks again!

Ben,

I just checked out your website. AWESOME! I was very impressed. Now, if you wouldn't mind, what do you mean by show package contents of iWeb?

Thanks,
Julie

Ben,

Although the RSS subscribe button works fine now per your instructions, when I click on "read more" from the RSS feed, I receive this error message:

Not Found

The requested URL /~frankljv/techhome/technologywebpage.html/techhome/adams/F2D8F98A-976D-4C88-9ECC-08FA2EF90AA0.html was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

What would you advise?

Thanks,
Julie

Where do you click "read more"? I'm not familiar with that selection.
