Description:
Recently I have received photo attachments through e-mail. When I try to download them this error message comes: "An error in opening the document. File does not begin with %PDF"
I have had this same error in download from several sources.
The most recent one said it was a JFS format. Am I missing supporting software to support this?
thanks. Sue

The "File does not begin with %PDF" is a message given by Adobe Acrobat
Reader. A bug in Acrobat Reader (and Acrobat Pro, for that matter) causes
it to incorrectly claim it can open any file. The Finder dutifully passes
Acrobat your image file, and it then complains it can't read it - all it
can actually read are PDF format files.

I have not heard of the JFS format. Do you have any more information on
it, i.e. what program created it? I looked in the graphics file format
encyclopedia I have, and couldn't find anything regarding it. If there
are any other formats you're having trouble looking at, let me know and
I'll try to track down some programs to open them. A good bet for most
formats is GraphicConverter by Thorsten Lemke .
