hello there,

this sounds rediculous but i spilled some of my soy protein shake on my keyboard, a tiny bit, no big deal, but some of it got between my "v" and "b" keys, and my "b" key is no longer working... at all... my guess is that the little spill got sticky/dried under the key... but i can't seem to figure out how to remove the keys nicely to clean them...

any suggestions for removing individual keys, or cleaning underneath them successfully?

many thanks!
jeffm~

On most keyboards, sticking a flat screwdriver underneath the key and GENTLY applying upward pressure will let the key pop off. just press the key down again to put it back on.

!!!

Its a powerbook... I would recommend taking it to an apple store, where they will fix it for you, most likely for free.

hey there,
yeah i tried and failed and, without trying to much harder, took it to tekserve (apple place in nyc) and they fixed it, ended up replacing the keyboard... that plus labor was about $200... when i cleaned the "b" key, it still did not work, there was some kind of short where the button makes the contact under the metal skeleton part the keys rest on (does that make sense) so i had to take it in.

anyways many thanks again for your responses you guys are terrific!
cheer,
jeffm~
