Hi guys

I have just bought a new flat aluminium keyboard. I have found that my Quark shortcuts are not working on it. This hasn't happened when I have bought keyboards b4.

I did as instructed and downloaded the software from the apple site. But when I went to load it, I got a dialogue box to say that 'a newer version already exists on this volume'.

I don't know how to proceed. I have tried searching for the software, but to no avail.

Thanks

christine

Is anything happening when you use your Quark shortcuts? Do shortcuts work in other applications? What software did you try to download from Apple? What version of Mac OS X are you running?

Hi Ben

Shortcuts are working in Adobe Indesign and illustrator. The software I downloaded is 'AppleKeyboardSoftware'. I am running 10.5.2.

regards

You didn't answer my first question, which was most important. What happens when you try to use your Quart shortcuts? I have heard of some shortcut issues with the new keyboards, I think particularly with use of the F-keys, but I'm not finding any related info on that right now.

(I think the keyboard support update was included in Leopard or one of the updates since its release.)

What version of Quark are you using?

Sorry Ben.

It is the f keys that are the problem. Others are working in Quark (7.2). Have gone back and looked at indesign from the f key point of view. Some are working. Some are not.

Are you having trouble with F-keys that are assigned to system functions as marked on them? Do you need to change their behavior to standard function keys in the Keyboard section of Keyboard & Mouse preferences? You might also want to update to Quark 7.3.1, which is supported under Leopard.

F keys assigned to system functions just fine. And very nice they are too. Didn't even know about them!! And yippee I sorted it in the keyboard and mouse preferences. You are a gem.
