When I export a Keynote 2 presentation to Quicktime or Powerpoint it alters my presentation in some way or form. How do I achieve a self playing presentation file that is compadable with mac and pc which shows a presentation exactly the way I made it?

Thanks for your time.

Ben,

My name is Cheryl and I will be assisting you. The main problem with exporting to PowerPoint is that different Windows machines have different versions of PowerPoint. I have never been able to export to PowerPoint with exactness.

Can you tell me what the alterations are?

From Apple's web site:
Since Mac OS X and Windows handle graphics differently, you may notice some slight variations when viewing your slideshow on a Windows computer.

PowerPoint does not support some Keynote features. For example:
Some bulleted text items may be lost when you export a Keynote document to PowerPoint. If you hide the bulleted text on a slide (by deselecting the Body checkbox in the Slide Inspector), it is deleted from the outline when you export.
PowerPoint does not support alpha-channel graphics, so if you use a photo cutout frame, the image behind it will appear in front.

QuickTime would give you the same problem. You have to make sure you are using a machine with the same version as what is on your machine. Keynote's timing does not match Quicktime's. Also, not all fonts will export.

From Apple's web site:
When you export a self-playing presentation as a QuickTime movie, some features might not work the same as when you view the presentation in Keynote. Some differences include:

If the presentation uses an audio file for a soundtrack, the movie won't end until the audio finishes. If your slideshow is a lot shorter than the audio, you might want to use a shorter audio file.

Let me know if you need further assistance and thank you for using MacOSX.com !
