have bought a d2 DL DVD±RW Drive with toast 6 lite bundled.
if not connected to computer, the tray opens on pressing the button. If firewire connected to either 15" or 17" year old powerbooks (OS 10.3.9) it does not.
If I put in a dvd or blank writable dvd, then close drawer and firewire connect it is usually not visble. Toast can see the internal dvd.
However once with a dvd i was able to see it and open pdfs on the dvd, and once I could see a blank dvd and started to write, but have not been able to repeat either. the write hung, perhaps because I did not have the minimum amount of hard disk space free at that time. (now have 8gb free)
Do you know what is happening?
Peter
Peter, welcome on macosx.com
(1) is the burner seen in the Apple System profiler (AppleMenu > About this Mac > More Infos; then select the Hardware, then Firewire triangle on the left pane) ?
And, if you put a CD in it, does Disk Utiliry see it ?
(2) Don't you have something (a profile,..) to install from laCie to force the mac recognise it ?
(3) Coulkd you download the freeware BurnXFree (only burn CDs) and see if this tool see the external burner ?
(4) So Toast does not show you the external drive. Right ?
If not, could you try PatchBurn ?
