--Lacie FW 400GB Hard Drive--
--OS X 10.4.5--

Hi all,

After updating my firmware (I had Read Only access and no way to change it), my drive will not mount!

Please help...all my data is on that drive.

Thanks,
Armando

Did you update the firmware on your drive or on your Macintosh? What Macintosh do you have? Does the drive work if connected to another Macintosh? Can you hear the drive spinning? Is the power light on? Steady or flashing? We need a bit more info to help. Thanks.

Ishan,

I'm using a PB G4. I updated the firmware on the hard drive. The light turns on and the drive spins and is recognized on drive designation, it just doesn't mount.

Please help

If the drive doesn't mount when connected to another Macintosh, then I would call LaCie tech support to see whether they suggest reflashing the drive "down" to the previous firmware. If it does mount reliably connected to another Macintosh, it may be the FW port on your PB. Also,
1) try a different FW cable
2) startup in "Safe" mode (shift key held down on restart) to see if any login items are interfering with mounting the drive
3) if you have Diskwarrior, see if, when you start your Macintosh with the DW CD, whether the drive mounts, and if it does, run DW on it
4.) Does Disk Utility see the drive? If it does, then see if DU will mount the drive
5) If the drive has a USB or FW 400 (rather than FW800, or vice versa) port, connect it that way and see if you can mount it.
