Description:
I need to buy a laser printer that is compatible with Adobe Illustrator 7.0 and Pagemaker 6.5. I do graphic design part time at home so I don't need a super-fast printer but I do need a laser printer. 6 ppm and 600dpi resolution in a monochorme lasr printer would work. While there are a number of laser printers on the market, few work with Mac. What options do I have for a laser printer less than $500 for the which can suit my needs. I have seen some laser printers from Lexmark (Optra E+),Brother (HL-730 plus), and NEC (Superscript 860) which are in my price range but do not appear to work with my Mac.

Check out HP's 6Lse, PowerPrint included for Mac compatibility, about $479.00
Also, both the Brother and NEC printers you mention can be used on a Mac with PowerPrint.

Not too many Laser Printers available for that price.
