Description:
Hi - hope you can help!

OS 8.5.1 installed on 7100 w/ G3 card

My good old laserwriter plus printer will not work since installing 8.5 and it seems that I read somewhere that 8.5 for some reason does not support older laserwriters now??

Use appletalk/localtalk to print with this printer and worked fine before 8.5. Have tried every combination I can think of but chooser will not recognize printer.

Any ideas or fixes that have happened recently would be much appreciated!

I've got a LaserWriter Plus at home, but haven't hooked it up since updating to 8.5. I'd recommend installing LaserWriter Bridge to see if it works. LaserWriter Bridge may not function properly if you don't have an ethernet connection, but it's free on Apple's FTP site. I don't think that 8.5 would cut out a LaserWriter since it's an AppleTalk printer. I think they just cut the serial and SCSI LaserWriter support, but I'm not 100% sure on that. I'll try to get mine running over the weekend, but in the meantime, is there another computer that you could try it on to verify operation? Otherwise, you might want to try booting from a different startup disk and trying to print with 8.1 if that's possible.
