I have a G4 tower with a upgraded Sonnet card (1.0Ghz) and a Gig of Ram and a 80 GB Hard Drive. Every time I run the installation, it gets to installing ok, but always hangs towards the end. It stops generally when it says 9minutes left or less, a couple times when it said less than a minute less I let it sit for an hour or so without restarting.

My question is, is this something that happens to other people? I haven't found anyone saying it hangs during the install but some people say it hangs after the install, but that isn't my problem. Also, I would like to know how to fix this, or what is wrong so I can find how to fix it.

Thanks

Is your system in good repair before you begin? And left completely undisturbed while the process is going on?

If so, I would also suspect your install disk. Give it the gentlest possible wash with a clean cloth--not a paper product--and the tinest bit of a mild dishes soap. Dry it with light strokes from the center out.

And run the most minimal custom install.

The system worked fine with 9.2 on it, installed great, and ran ok. I've tried installing without X11 and something else (can't remember now). I need the fonts and printer drivers though, can I install just those later?

I'll try cleaning the disk, albeit it went straight from the case to the DVD-RW drive. The system doesn't get touched during install, so it's not that.

The only install disks I have are 9.2, 10.0.3 and 10.5.1... Should I try installing 10.0.3 and updating to 10.5.1?

The computer meets the requirements for leopard.

It didn't before, so I upgraded all it's vital components, such as ram and processor.
