i am having volume level problems since installing OS X 10.5 Leopard
I lost all sounds in Entourage MS Office 2008
I have half the volume now on my G5 tower than I had with Tiger as well
Checked all levels in Sys Pref all to the max as far as settings go
Ok
Here is another for you. On my new Macbook I have problems with my "Y" key
I have had the top and trackpad replaced Here is the thing with that
I could be in Word, Entourage, Gmail or Mirc and typing away and the "Y" letter such as it is in the word away above will suddenly fly off and attach itself to the
end of another word somewhere else in the document on its own . Is that bizarre or what. Any ideas?
Just came from the Apple store and we of course could not get this to happen
he said since I had the top keyboard replaced it must be a software issue. but is goes across many different apps so how is that? Care to venture a guess>

Regarding the Y key issue, might it have something to do with your hand position on the keyboard wherein your palm (area at the base of your thumb) is touching the trackpad, producing a click command, causing the cursor to move just as you type a "y"? Or, do you find that only the "y" moves and the rest of your typing occurs at the previous cursor position?
The volume issue is associated with system volume in all applications?, not just iTunes. Were you using Entourage 2008 on a system where it produced sounds? Why are you using Entourage at all?

ben
this is not a cursor movement problem and it is not happening with any other key except the "Y" key. The other anomaly is the letter "Y" will attach itself onto a previously typed word elsewhere in the document to another word ending in a "Y". it is the strangest and most frustrating thing. Of course this is a problem that is not present all the time but is intermittent.
The volume problem seems to stem from loading Lepoard. The volume all around emitting from both my G5 and Macbook is lower than it was with Tiger. I have checked all levels it is all maxed out
Why are you asking me why Im using Entourage. I just am. I also use Mac mail and Ical etc I also use Gmail too. I bet Steve Jobs does as well LOL
anyway thanks for you help i did take under consideration my palm hitting the track pad but it doesn't seem to be the problem

The last thing I would consider suggesting is reinstalling
10.5.2. I also wonder whether the new
MacBook Keyboard Firmware Update fixes this issue.

This skipping about in any program I input the "Y" key in is not something specific to !0.5.2 This has been re occuring since I own this laptop about 8 months now
I have had the touch pad and keyboard replaced as well. I have installed the Firmware update and had it happen after too.
Apple says they won't replace. Any thoughts about volume level changing after Leopard was installed
thanks

Have you tried to duplicate the problem with a different user? If you only have one user account, you can create a new one through your System Preferences/Accounts pane. Log out of your present user, and log back in as the new user. Try to do some typing that might cause the strangeness in the letter Y.
Keep in mind that your documents and other settings will be part of the other user, so your system will be back to defaults in that new user. Try out a variety of apps in that new user. You're trying to duplicate what you see in your normal user. You should also check if your volume settings seem to be more like the volume that you had before you upgraded.
When you finish your testing, just log back out, then log back in as your normal user.
Let me know if you find out anything...
