Knowledge Level: Intermediate
Problem: Software
Computer Type: Dantz Retrospect
Model: Mac G3, retrospect 4.1
RAM: 64meg
RAM Enhancer: None
OS Version: MacOS 8.1

Description:
I use a 2 gig jaz drive for backup, which has plenty of room to backup my files, but not the ultra full versions of my applications, which i don't need to backup anyway.
I couldn't understand the instructions in retrospect 4.1 to limit the backup to files using Selector.
Can you help?

Thanks.

Julie

Julie,

I think this is more obvious if you try to use it than reading the manual.
Basically what you can do is limit your backup set to files that match (or do
not match) the selector. For example, you can first label all the files you do
not wish to back up (Label is located in the Finder File menu). Then run
Retrospect and in the backup dialog click the "Selecting" button. Next click More
Choices... and finally the Exclude button. In the drop down list select Label,
and click the label you chose for excluded backups.

At this point none of the files you have labeled will be backed up.

Good Luck,
Mark Nettleingham
