TICKET ARCHIVE -> Line In Mike Not Working

Thanks for your help on the previous questions; great service.

I experienced quite a few problems after loading xTime, which I have now deleted, which included MacJanitor disappearing totally, other icons disappearing from the dock, and USB devices triggering memory loss warnings when they are removed, despite undocking them first. These have all gong, but one problem remains; my line in mike is not working. I get sound through my headphone speakers, but have to use the built in mike at the moment.

Any ideas?

It used to work really well, and then suddenly stopped at the same time as the other problems I mentioned initially. All the other problems are solved, but just this one remains. The headset works perfectly well on other machines, whereas other headsets don't work on this machine; or at least the mike part.
