Description:
I have a Gateway 2000 with a pentiumII (300mghz)
I have just connected a Umax Astra 1220P scanner. Can I now link an Iomega zip drive to the scanner??

Yes, I believe it is possible to hook up the scanner and the ZIP drive (BTW, ZIP drives rock!). First of all, is the scanner connected to a printer (LPT) port or a SCSI port? If it's connected to a SCSI port, then you could buy a Parallel port External ZIP drive and connect it to your computer. If it's a parallel port scanner, follow these instructions...

There should be two ports on the back of the ZIP drive. Take the cable that goes from the scanner to the computer and plug it into the ZIP drive port (the one with the picture of a printer on it). So, the cable should go from the scanner to the ZIP.

Then, take the cable that came with the ZIP drive and attach one end to the other port on the ZIP and the other end to your computer's parallel port.

Don't scan and use your ZIP at the same time!
