I can't see any streaming links on Apple's web site in my Safari, what changes can I make to get these links to show up ???

Here is what I see ...
http://www.macosx.com/gallery/showim...s&cutoffdate=2

I bet the info.plist in Safari indicates Jagar somewhere and if I changed it to the correct Tiger designation all would work again and without error, because QT would handle the types correctly !

I believe Apple exludes the links for Jaguar owners trying to get them to upgrade, but this is lame of course, I will get Tiger when I buy a new MACchine and I will do that around June when all the new MACchines have come out and I can choose from all the new stuff.

try this - Quit Safari, then go to your User/Library/Preferences folder, and trash the file named com.apple.quicktime.plugin.preferences.plist

And, try Safari and streaming links... will usually work again.

No, no change, but I looked at my com.apple.Safari.plist and it appears to have lot of garbage in it.

YAHOOLIGANS its all working now !!! I moved my com.apple.Safari.plist to the desktop, so I still have the old one.

There does not appear to be much damage maybe this will work.

Glad to hear you're browsing better! I occasionally empty the Safari cache (under the Safari menu), and that also is a good help for better performance. I think you hit on the best one in your case. Sometimes the 'plist' just gets all 'plugged' up, and you just remove it. If you get some improvement, then just trash the old one. There's really nothing there that you can retrieve.

Thanks again ! I had often emptied the cache and got little or no improvement at first glance the current improvement seems to be dramatic.

The only change that I can detect so far are the very basic preference settings, I checked my cookies and they all still seem to be there.

I find it very interesting that this time and the last time a new OS shipped, with in a week or two of shipping way before I have actually upgraded, I noticed a BIG decrease in the speed of my MACchine and I use Safari the most so my impressions probably came just from that.

Although this time I also seemingly had a cut in speed when I switched from my Titanium Mac to a new aluminum MACchine, it seemed slow almost from the start -- I had always blamed it on the new PPC processor not threading as well as the previous, bate and switch by IBM and Apple not testing their suppliers enough.

Now it looks like that was not it, but I will have to browse a lot longer to see how much faster it really is.

But I will send a bug report to the Safari team to apologize for complaining about how slow it has been.

Now I have just looked at the com.apple.Safari.plist again and what I thought was garbage actually is labeled as so it does not appear be garbage anymore.

If you could point me to a good file compare utility that gives a simple and quick ASCI output I would appreciated it.

Here it is, I deleted the data in the large data sections just because they could hold passwords.
