I recently purchased
Lite-on Combo SCHC-5232K
It is an internal drive. A friend recommended it to me because of price thinking that although it was PC I could use it with my MAC.
I am using OSX operating system.
I am able to burn cds. I am able to play DVDs.
What I have not been able to do is burn a dvd. That is the reason why I purchased it. I am using Toast 6 Titanium. I am out of ideas and was hoping someone can help me out. Give it to me straight. Is there a driver for this thing that will work for me or is this just not going to be compatible for me to burn dvds. Toast keeps asking me to insert a recordable dvd. I have dvd-r blanks by Memorex. Still not reading.

Your Lite-On SOHC-5232K is a combo drive, which means it is a CD reader/CD-RW/DVD-ROM
52x Write, 32x Rewrite, 52x Read, and 16x DVD-ROM Read Speed
In other words, it will read CDs and DVDs, and will write to CD-R/W, but will not write to DVD-r/w. It is not a DVD burner, and cannot burn to any DVD.
If you are wanting a DVD burner, you missed on this one.
