Went to the forums first, but after 24 hours with no replies, I moved this question over here. I'm concerned, because I do use .Mac for storage and back ups as well as sync. Theres no reason I can think of that what I describe below should have happened.
I normally have an automatic daily sync of all my computers with .Mac. Today I just happened to look at my main desktop unit's sync icon in the menu and was shocked when it displayed "Never Been Synchronized" or words to that effect.
Has anyone experienced this, and knows what caused it? I was using the iSync app several days ago to change my Bluetooth cell phone to a new one, but that only involved removing the old phone and adding the new one.
Was there a failure of .Mac in general? Is there something about iSync that crosses over to the .Mac sync that would have reset the .Mac records?
Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff,
There has been many complaints about iSync. What I think has happened is iSync 'saw' a new device and thinks it has not sync'd the new device - hence the never backed up message.
Do a back up of the new phone and see if things get corrected.

Cheryl,
First, tell me, am I correct in thinking iSync (for devices) and Sync with .Mac are the same application, but with different functions? If so, my main concern is that no stored information on .Mac was lost. I was unable to find a way to confirm what was actually on .Mac. My final solution was to reSync and replace all info on .Mac with what was on my main computer, then resync the other computers to .Mac.
I'm not sure whether this was the best solution, but perhaps you can enlighten me on better ones.
Going back to my original question, when I replaced an old phone with a new one, you're suggesting that the entire sync process thought that phone represented the computer? That could be a problem.

Jeff,
ISync and sync with .mac are two different functions.
iSync is used to sync information from your phone or PDA to .mac.
Use the .Mac preferences (in system preferences) to synchronize the information across your computers.
The .Mac preferences will then check and sync all your computer information you selected in options.
When you replaced devices, iSync was stating that you never did a sync with the new phone. If you were referring that sync in the .Mac preferences said never sync'd, then that could have been a problem with the .Mac servers that many people were experiencing. Apple claims that the problem has been fixed.
iSync and .mac sync are confusing since the change which I think happened with the Tiger (10.4) release.
In the .Mac sync what option do you have selected to do the sync between .mac and your computers? If you have it set to Automatically, you must select what hour you wish to have it done.
If you continue to have problems with a computer, you need to go to .Mac preferences>Advanced and unregister the computer. Then register it. This should clear up any problems you may have had.
