Here is my current problem
I don't have Spotlight. I have tried finding the emails with the Q window in Finder, but no luck.
And I have no memory of whether my account with Telus was POP or IMAP. I realize I'm SOL if it was IMAP. I just tried going thru home/library/caches and found a whole lot of stuff for Mail but am unable to see what they are. I am prompted to select an application to try opening the items. Any idea what I should do here? Which, if any application to select? I have no idea how to undo a choice. At this point, I think it's unlikely the lost messages are in there, but at least finding out how to undo my choice of application would be helpful.
Thanks again.

JJ, i've flagged your ticket, not sure what happened to it, we'll look into it.
As for you question i'll give some options:
Can you get access to the Telus account? by putting in the IMAP or POP info into another mail account, to download them one last time? By the way, if you did recreate a mail account with the new provider, you may have over written your previous account this way. As the new account was created, ie using the same names for inbox etc... mail.app could have over written the old info, along with your msgs. Does your mail.app still have the info in the mail accounts under preferences? You could then find out if it was IMAP or POP.
Do you still have web access to your telus account?
As for your second part of the question:
Click the file you were opening and click the file you are looking at and then press

Hi, no access to Telus account. I realize now that when they asked me if I REALLY wanted to cancel my account, that 'yes' was the wrong answer. Nobody mentioned possible consequences. Mail doesn't have my old preferences/info in the preferences; I overwrote when switching accounts. I'm guessing now that it was IMAP and that I am SOL on the old lost msgs. Telus did tell me at the time that all the msgs on their server would be deleted, so no luck there either.
For the second part, thanks. That helped me figure out that I need to highlight and then go the file options on the toolbar. I've tried a bunch of things and I think now that the caches are just stuff included with email sent from PC's that I don't have the software to open since I don't Microsoft Office for Mac or anything like that. I've got Preview and Textedit and that's about it. I'm thinking unless you have something new that I really have lost the msgs. Thanks anyway, it's been a learning experience regardless and that's always good.
