Knowledge Level: Intermediate
Problem: No Problem
Computer Type: Apple
Model: Performa 6400/180
RAM: 32meg
RAM Enhancer: None
OS Version: System 7.5.5

Description:
The computer uses Open Transport networking (v1.1) and MacPPP (v2.5).
The LARGEST UNUSED BLOCK in the ABOUT THIS MAC window shows about 21MB of RAM before I start Communicator (v4.04) or Em@iler Lite (v1.1) and the Internet connection. After I quit the program and terminate the Internet connection, LARGEST UNUSED BLOCK rebounds to only about 15MB. What if anything can be done, aside from restarting the computer, to fully restore UNUSED RAM after use of Internet programs?

Hi welcome to Nowonder

There is a small program called purge which gives you back application memory so you dont have to restart. You can download this at http://www.cnet.com just go to there download site and in the search mode type in Purge. Best regards sharona@nowonder
