Jinny,
Have you tried unplugging it, waiting about 5 minutes, and then plugging it back in again?
Let me know.

i have and nothing. I've been onto Apple care and they say it might be the microprocessor.

Jinny,
Ouch. I'll assume that after unplugging it and then replugging and turning it on there are no lights lit on the front or back?
If not, then it very well may be the processor which has failed. (Purge surges can do that. Power dips usually do not.)
If it's the processor then you'll have to take the Quicksilver to your local Apple-authorized repair shop to have it serviced. Unfortunately, this could be expensive.
As an aside: do you have the Mac plugged into a power-surge outlet????

Richard

Hi again
I was about to take my mac off to the menders for investigation when i thought i would just try replacing the battery. they're hard to get hold of but i did and it works! isn't that strange? I guess the battery must have been low and the power cut tipped it over the edge. Thought i would let you know in case you get anyone else in a similar situation.
Hving had this scare though I'm going to get a surge protector. Any recommedations?
thanks again for all your help
jinny

Jinny,
Wow, just a battery! That certainly is an inexpensive power surge! I"m glad it worked out for you.
Power surge protectors: I would recommend any by Belkin.
The higher the rating the better. You'll see the rating on the outside of the package. Get the largest one you can.
