Hi Matteo,
In order to low level format a Mac Hard Drive all you need to do is install it onto your system ( I will assume you know how to do this, as a master) if not check the documentation for the pin placement to make sure the drive is a master. After you have the drive in you should be able to format the drive durring the install procedure. However to do a true low level format you will need to go to the installer menu at the top of the screen and choose "Disk Utility", from here you can choose to do a full format (write zeros) or a secure format ( 8 time overwrite)... Ither should do for you... just remeber that the 8 time overwrite will take quite some time. Then the os should install normally after the disk is formatted..... I hope this helps. If you Have any questions please feel free to get back to me and I will answer ASAP.
Thanks for choosing Mac OSX
