I recently spilt liquid on my macbook. It still started up and held a charge but the screen was dark. I took it to a local apple repair centre and they advised that it was a prohibitive cost to fix. When they returned the mac it did not charge and would no longer turn on
Two questions
1. How can I get the data from my hard drive like photos etc without it costing me £120 for two hours labour
2. How can the Mac of got worse from when I took it in

Any help on point 1 would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Ian

If your Macbook will not turn on, and you want to recover the files from the hard drive - the hard drive is very easy to remove.
Take the main battery out. Remove the L-shaped cover, where you gain access to the memory slots. You will see a white tab at one side. Pull that, and the hard drive slides right out.
If you aren't comfortable with doing that, then the repair centre can do that for you - only takes 2 minutes. I don't think the charge would be much just to remove the drive.
With that hard drive in hand, all you need is an external case for an SATA drive. Install your old hard drive in that, and connect the case to another Mac, and retrieve your files. You can then use that drive as storage (or whatever) for another Mac....
