OK... So I wrote a few months back with this problem but though I'd try again. The tech I dealt with couldn't find a fix for this bug. Basically the mac mail incoming mail alert doesn't sound for the mail but it does for the RRS feed. Just a few days ago I reinstalled the operating system (for other reasons) and then uninstalled and reinstalled Mail. All was good, when I downloaded all my mail from Gmail again the mail alert sounded. The next day it stopped playing again. I'm using VacuumMail.app. Could this be a problem?

All the best,
Anies

I doubt it but what version of Mac OS X are you running. VacuumMail's functionality is handled by the Leopard (10.5) version of Mail and is therefore unneccesary. If that's the only thing you did, perhaps something did get screwed up. I'm going to leave your question open for other ideas.

Hi Ben,

I deleted VacuumMail.app using AppDelete.app and still have the same problem. Any other ideas?

All the best,
Anies

Still need to know what version of Mac OS X you're using. You can check in About This Mac in the Apple menu. It's not in your profile here.

That's strange... I remember filling that bit out. Anyway, I'm using 10.5.4.
