Hello
I have a mac mini.
The DVI output is plugged into a viewsonic 21'.
I have red lines-dots appearing when i move the mouse over the dock for instance.
I saw this problem is known on the Internet.
I tried ATIccelerator which is supposed to help some people but it does not work.
can you help ?
best regards
Olivier

Olivier,
My name is Cheryl and I will be assisting you.
First, check for magnetic or electrical interference.
Fluorescent lights, computers, other monitors, or electronic appliances
such as coffee makers and copy machines can cause screen distortion.
Move the monitor to another room to determine if external
interference is the source of the problem.
Have you degaussed the monitor? If your monitor is equipped with a manual degauss function, try to degauss the monitor to see if the color dissipates. If this function is not available, then turn the monitor off, wait about 15 minutes, and then turn the monitor back on.
Is there two lines appearing cutting the screen in thirds?

Let me know if you need further assistance and thank you for using MacOSX.com !

Hello Cheryl,
- I have degaussed
- I have tried removing all on my desk (lights, usb hubs..) everything electrical and making a clear path from my mac mini to my monitor for the cable. No difference.
- There are several lines.
This is something reproduced on the net forums.
i'll try to gatehr some links.
some people have even made snapshots of their screens.
It really appears to be a default from the mac, as people have tried costly high end replacement cables to see if it was a interference problem. Looks like there is a tweak to do on the ATI card, which is available from the latest ATI driver for retail ATI 9200 cards taht you can add into a mac, but this function is disabled on the OEM cards (included into Macs when shipped).
I've been on the web for this information and I'll try to gather some links to bring you more information.
thanks anyway for your help.

I see many problems with various different monitors.

Olivier,
I suggest you post your problem on the Apple Discussion board. Then there just might be a fix to come quicker when Apple sees there are more people with the same problem.
