I would like to open MAC OS Help.
If i go to Finder & click on Mac Help, I get a blank window.
I can go to Library & open Help Topics such as Safari help BUT there is no help for Mac OS Tiger.
Can you help me find it.
Thanks
Tim Gardner

Hi Tim
The Help Viewer preferences and/or caches file corruption may cause this problem.
Delete the following files, then restart and try Help.
HOME/Library/Preferences/ - (this file) com.apple.help.plist
HOME/Library/Preferences/ - (this file) com.apple.helpviewer.plist
HOME/Library/Cashes/ - (this file) com.apple.helpui (folder)

Hi
Did as you suggested & deleted those files & folder. Now no Mac OS help OR any other help at all.
Any others suggestions to get back these help files?
Tim

Tim
Download Pacifist here;
http://www.charlessoft.com/
Use that to get a new Help Viewer off the Tiger disc and replace the old one.

Hi Bob,
Got Pacifist as you suggested, but can't find the file/files/folder to get MacOS Help working in Help Viewer!
Could you point me in the right direction?
Thanks

Tim
You want to extract the Help Viewer off the disc with Pacifist, not any other files.

Yes...still no Mac Help

Tim
I've uploaded my Help Viewer. Download it from this link;
http://homepage.mac.com/maktek/HelpViewer.zip
After you download and unzip it, hight the name and put a space between Help and Viewer, then put it here to replace yours;
System>Library>CoreServices
Then delete all those plist and Cache files again before trying Help. Restart, then try Help.

Tim
Look here;
Library>Documentation>Help
Make sure that Help folder is there, and it should have the following in it;
AirPort.help
AppleScript.help
Bluetooth.help
MacHelp.help
OSXHIGuidelines
VoiceOver.help

Bob,
If I reinstall the system, how would it affect the way I've got things set up at present. Obviously I've got a number of other programs etc added to the system. Would these be deleted?
Cheers
Tim
