I have a Laptop(XP) and a MAC desktop (OSx)
I have them connected through a small router, they have 192.168.x.x ip addresses and are on the same network as you can see.
What is the easier way to SHARE FILES and FOLDERS between them?
I've done it with 2 or 3 PC's before, but with MAC I'm not so experienced.
I downloaded FETCH FTP software on the MAC desktop and do not have any FTP software for my Laptop (XP)
Anything that you can recommend would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Well, the easiest way to grab files off your PC is to make sure in System Preferences>Sharing that "Windows File Sharing" is started. Then, Make sure you have sharing setup on whichever folders you want to share on your PC. then go to "Go>Connect to Server" and type the IP address of your PC. or "yourpc.yourworkgroup.net" ought to work. it will ask for a username and password, you can enter one, but it really doesn't matter. then chooose the PC share that you want to mount from the dropdown menu.
you can make your Mac available through FTP, go to "System Preferences>Sharing" and turn "FTP Access" on.
then on your PC type
ftp://192.168.x.x it will either ask for a username and password or deny access, if it denies access, go to "File>Login as..." and use your username and passwird for the Mac.
This usually works. If you have questions or troubles, let me know.

Excellent!
I will try this...couple of questions before I do:
1. File sharing is already enabled on my PC (XP) and on the MAC (OSX) FTP access is turned on as well, so I guess I was on the right path...my question would be that in my PC(XP) I can go to Start>Run>
ftp://192.168.x.x and this will connect me to my MAC automatically after I put in the username/password? Do I have to choose which files to share on my MAC or is there a SHARED folder in it?
2. How do I connect from my MAC to my PC? do I type
ftp://ip.address.x.x in the address bar on an IE page?
Thanks for sharing and helping out!
go to "Go>Connect to Server" and type the IP address of your PC. or "yourpc.yourworkgroup.net" ought to work.
