RAM: 48meg
RAM Enhancer: None
OS Version: MacOS 8.1
Description:
I posted to the group support as I am desperate . . .
'splain this to me: how can I network my TWO Macs running OS 8.1 using Open
Transport on the Printer Port simultaneously with running my modem using OT/PPP
on the modem port?
This should be easy, but conceptually I can't put it together. My two Macs are a
6400/200 and a Performa 600CD upgraded with a Turbo 601 card.
I've always used Classic networking but I'd like to know how to use the Open
Transport networking concept.
Thanks to you who can answer my query!

Dear Tom,
Well, it should be easy.
1) Connect the Macs via the respective printer ports and remember to activate File Sharing in both.
2) Connect the modem to the modem port.
3) Open AppleTalk control panel and set the port for AppleTalk to the printer port, close the control panel and accept the changes
4) Open TCP/IP and set the TCP/IP preferences you know, close the control panel and accept the changes;
5) Open Modem and set the modem preferences you know, close the control panel and accept the changes;
6) Open PPP and set the modem preferences you know, close the control panel and accept the changes.
7) Select AppleShare from the Chooser and look for the other Mac and bring it to your desktop in the usual fiendly Apple way.
8) Connect to the Internet by simply opening a browser.
Have I missed something? I hope I didn't

)

Alessandro
