Nancy,

It sounds like you may have a memory problem. How much memory do you have installed? To check this go to the blue apple at the top far left and select About This Mac. A new window will appear showing exactly what OS version, the processor speed and the amount of memory installed.

OS X has a minimum of 256 MB to work. That means if you want to use several programs, like Mail and Safari, you may experience problems like now. A way around this is to have enough free space on your hard drive for virtual memory to take over. Virtual memory uses the free space on the hard drive as temporary memory.

Try this: Open just one program - say one of your games - and see how long you go without the program shutting down.
