I would like to be able to send documents to friends who have PC's. I use Ipages. They are OK with text but when I wnat them to receive things like tables it does not work. Should I buy Microsoft Office for Macs - it is really expensive I think. How could I do it without that?

As you have discovered Pages uses a proprietary format for the files it creates, and should 'play' well with other software if exported in the right format.

Can you choose Export from the file menu in Pages? You should have multiple choices for exporting, and one should be export as a Word document. I can't tell you if something like tables will survive the export, as I haven't tried that.

Thank you for that info - I did not know what export meant so that is progress. I have emailed a table to a friend as a test in RTF but I have not heard from them yet as to whether it has worked. I will let you know when I hear
