Thanks to Bob W. for link - I was able to download MTR. Installation was successful. The program seems to work right up to the last stage when I click on the green "GO" button. It just flutters between the green "go" button and the white "cancel button underneath, and nothing happens. No DVD running, no ripping.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Richard Zempel

ALSO -

I'm beginning to think I'm going to need Popcorn, too.

My purpose is to extract :30 and :60 commercials (and maybe some 2-3 min. videos) from DVD storage and be able to e-mail clips to potential advertiser clients. I would also like to be able to upload these spots to a website collection of my work for potential clients to play/view. Is MactheRipper and/or Popcorn what I need to manage video from DVD sources? All my reel elements are on DVD or digi Beta now.

Richard,
Be sure you have enough space to rip the DVD, somewhere under 10GB free should be OK.

If you wish to extract clips, you are going to need to edit them somehow to pull the clips out, and iMovie will work for that. However, you can't just rip a DVD and pull it into iMovie. You will need a tool like DVDxDV.

They have a free trial, so you can give it a go and see if it will work out for you.

Mac the Ripper will take off the Copy Protection (if there is any), and then Popcorn will burn a dvd, and shrink it down to fit on a single layer DVD if need be.

Since you want to get clips from a DVD and email them, Popcorn won't be beneficial to you.

Let me know if this helps!
