Hate to say this.....but I've been a lifelong Windows user. My husband persuaded me into switching over to Mac, and I have done so. So far, things have been running smoothly, but I'm having some Japanese language problems in Mac Word version 11.

1. Like I could in Windows, I CANNOT translate a Kanji (chinese characters) in hiragana by just highlighting it and pressing the space bar. How can I translate it otherwise???

2. I can't seem to find the option of handwriting a Kanji. There's NO handwriting input option.

3. I have some problems viewing attached Japanese documents I receive by e-mail. Some parts of the document show up in boxes, and I cannnot find the ENCODING option where I can swith it to Japanese like I could in Windows.

I hope someone can help me here....I'd greatly appreciate any kind of help! Thank you!

If you search in your Microsoft Office Help for Kanji (or whatever you need) you will see a lot of info about enabling Japanese and multi-language support. I can't tell you if the feature you want is even available in the Mac version of Word, but enabling the features that are there, should be a good start.
