Hi, for some time now I have had problems with my display when the computer starts up or wakes up from sleep. When the display is set on the highest brightness, it flickers for about a minute or two. After that it seems all normal - it is as if it has to warm up. Any solutions to that problem? Could it might be software related. Have read many "interesting" occasions of this problem on the discussion page at apple, but there seems no concrete solutions to the problem.

Best regards
Alexander

Alexander- Welcome to Macosx.com!

I just wanted to verify: you're using a Macbook, not a Macbook Pro, right?

If you are using a Macbook, this is what you can try:

1) Lowering the brightness on the screen.

2) Resetting the PRAM. Detailed instructions are at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238.

3) Using your Macbook without the battery in, just using the AC power from the wall.

4) Updating your Mac's software to the latest and greatest. Click the Apple menu from the finder, then click "Software Update".

If these don't work, you may have a bad power inverter. To get this diagnosed, visit your local apple retail store's genius bar (http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/) or an authorized apple repair center (http://www.apple.com/buy/locator/service/).

Let me know if this helped or if you have any other questions. Feel free to contact me at any time.
