Hello,
I just bought a 15" macbook pro, and I am having problems with the battery/charging circuit. When I bought the computer I pluged it in right away to start charging the battery and the indicator on the mag-safe went from orange to green...and all appeared to be well.
I then unplugged the unit and went to the airport(not like location matters) and went to turn on the computer on it's own power for the first time....it came on for a few seconds, then died, like the battery was dead. From that point forward it insists that it has no battery installed. I have tried another known good battery out of a friends Macbook pro 15", and I have resest the PLU and the PRAM to no avail.
I have apple care, but now that I am in afghanistan, I can't afford a call to them, and there are no apple stores here, so any idea's would be helpful. Thanks
Kevin
You didn't say if your friend's good battery worked, or not.
If the other battery worked, and your battery is not recognized, then you need to replace the battery.
Kevin, maybe you could send your battery to a friend in another country, where your battery could be replaced easily. All they should need is the serial number of your MacBook Pro.
If neither battery work in your MacBook Pro, then you need warranty service, which seems impractical from your location.
In that case, you would simply use with your power adapter, which leaves you with a non-portable laptop....
