Hello
I have just got a mac book pro and can't connect to the internet using my Speed Touch 330 ASDL modem. I have transferred all my settings from my old mac, but it doesn't the modem.
Thank you so much
Lisa

The IP Adress is different. Did you transfer the IP Adress also from your olf Mac? If yes, type in the new one that you got with your new Mac.

PS: Speed Touch works great with Macs, I have one myself.

Hi Ferdinand
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Sorry to be slow ... do you know where I would find the new IP on my new mac ?
Thanks again
Lisa

I think it says that in the System Preferences, under Sharing. At the very bottom, it says afp://912202123. So the number after the afp:// is the Ip adress.

Do you mean, that in the prefs, where it says AirPort, VPN etc. the light is red, and not green?
LisaHoughton - Apr 30, 2006 - 10:55 am
In the prefs where it says AirPort etc .... it has built in ethernet in green and AirPort is red ..... but no mention of Speed Touch .....
Thanks

Hi Ferdinand
Dear ... oh ... dear ... I bet you wish you'd never responded in the 1 st place!!!!
OK ... I'll tell you what I've done ... then if that doesn't help ... I'll leave you in peace ....
I reinstalled the speed touch software and connected to the mac book and the modem constantly has a red flasing light. I connect it using the USB connection.
Thanks again
Lisa

Lisa,
It wont work because you connected the MacBook Pro with SpeedTouch witch an USB cable (is this right???). You should connect it with an Ethernet Cable (which is basically the internet cable you got with the modem).
Do you have the cable? And if not, you can buy it in any electronics store.
Ferdinand
PS: Youre right, I shouldnt have answered that first message of yours!

Hi
AAaaarrrhhhggggg!!!!!
I do have an ethernet cable that I got when I was in the States ... but the actual modem only a a hard wired USB and no other spaces to 'plug in' !
Don't worry ... I will stop pestering you and I will call the helpline after the bank holiday.
Thank you so much for your help and prompt replies.
Kind Regards
Lisa ( very frustrated!!!!)
