TICKET ARCHIVE -> Mactheripper Install

I downloaded (I think) the freeware from MacTheRipper from the macosx site and it appears on my desktop as "download.php" . When I click on it, my Powerpoint app opens and then a window that says that this file is corrupt. Once I got a Powerpoint template for a slide presentation that was empty of any text.

What can I do to install this or another good free dvd back-up application?

ALSO -

I've kept trying and began what appeared to be a more successful download of the MacTheRipper freeware from another site, and it showed on my desktop as "mactheripper266.dmg.bz2" .
I dbl clicked it and a Stuffit expander window opened but never went beyond the "time estimating..." stage. I let it go for an hour, but it did not progress.

Again, any help......
