Description:
Hi:

When I try to record anything onto system sounds, or make a sound file, or even record for a software "game" (like American Girl where you can make up your own story)- nothing records. I have used different types of microphones and have plugged them into the mic input. I was able to do this on my old Performa, but not here. What do you think is wrong? Do I need a microphone that is amplified?

Thanks,

Mark Vockroth

Hello Mark,

Macs are a breed unto themselves when it comes to microphones since they can only utilize Apple PlainTalk mikes. They do have RCA stereo mini type jacks on them but unlike most other microphones are powered by your CPU and cannot be powered by batteries or other source.
