I'm back again.

I asked this a week or two ago but I have more info:

I'm a desktop publisher and website designer in self training.

A friend has a problem with Microsoft Entourage for Macs which is:

"Do you know of a way or program that is available that will sort out the Emails that are no longer working etc. Right now when I send out multiple Emails if one isn't right ,it doesn't send any of them, so they all come back as an error without identifying which one/s are in error.? Which means I need to send them individually which is impossible time wise to do."

I personally don't use Entourage for this reason and I can't recall having this problem with any other Mail application program.

Is there something in preferences to enable or disable to get this to stop happening?

New INFO:

Entourage gives a "not our customer" message in the top part of the error panel that comes up and in the bottom half it is a "error -17099".

I don't know if any of this will be helpful.
This friend of mine is sending an attachment jpeg of a one day workshop she is doing. Is it possible that it is too big?

Thanks

Hi Kirk

Error -17099
Relaying to prohibited by administrator
Email could not be sent
Account name (my account name)
Error -17099

Error -17099 is an Entourage error kSMTPServerReplyErr, and is returned when the SMTP server has returned a permanent or transient error or returns an unexpected result code.

One of the email addresses is bad/incorrect.

Entourage doesn't have a way of letting you know which it is.

So would it be safe to say no other mail app does this so that if one switches to Mail.app or Thunderbird app from Mozilla, this won't happen??

Thanks,

Kirk

Not sure about the other mail apps, I use Eudora, and if I send to multiple address and one is bad, it will tell me which one is bad.

Bobw,

So Eudora tells you before it sends out the email or is it the cannot deliver messages that come back after the email goes out?

I'm trying Eudora now.

What do you like about it?

Are you using the free version or pay?

Does it do html?

I'm going to recommend my friend go to some other email client.

Why do they call it a client as opposed to email application or email browser?

Transferring address books seems to be a little tricky although with Eudora
it didn't work the first time so I monkeyed around and I think I came back to the Import Mail and it pulled everything I needed from my Mail.app except I had to manually input my .Mac account settings.

It doesn't seem to have a direct way to import from Entourage or would I use the Outlook Express 5 option?

Too many questions? Oops there is another one.

Thanks for the help.

If a message is undeliverable in Eudora, it comes back with that address.

I like all it's features. I've been using it for probably ten years, and have nec=ver had a problem with it, that's my main reason. helping other people, I see the problems with other email apps, like Entourage, Mail, etc.

I use the pay version, but the free version is the same except it has an ad.

Eudora has a forum you can get a lot of help and info from;

http://eudorabb.qualcomm.com/index.php

Also their support page;

http://www.eudora.com/techsupport/

It's called an applicatior or client, just as any email app. It's a client in regards as it's pulling mail from a main source.

You may be able to use Apple's Mail to import the addressbook to, then import from Mail to Eudora.

My pleasure.

I asked before but I think it is important so bare with me. Thanks.

The content of the email would have no effect on the go no go decision that Entourage is making here? Too big an email for the address?
Crossed signals cause there is suddenly an attachment?
Something in the body of the email that Entourage sees differently?

Thanks,

Kirk

The content or attachment should have no effect on sending, unless an attachment is larger than what the receiving ISP allows, but then you should get a message about the attachment.

Well, I'm ready to ask for a good way to migrate Entourage Address Book to Mac OS X Mail.app, Thunderbird or Eudora.

Is there perhaps someone else in the macosx.com community who would know?

See if these pages help;

http://www.entourage.mvps.org/import_export/export.html

http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19177

If not, post in our System & Software forum. There are a lot of people that will see it, and I'm sure someone has done this that will be able to help you.
