I purchased a new iMac with Leopard and since the first day that I started up the computer I have only been able to open a Microsoft Office 2004 application twice. Every other time that I try the program freezes and I have to force quit to quit the program. What is the problem?

Hi Nick,

You could try to repair permissions using Disk Utility, but I don't think this would be a permanent fix.

I would buy Microsoft Office 2008. The new Office suite for Mac is universal, which means that it is optimized for Intel Macs and PPC Macs. Office 2004 isn't universal, which means that even though it will work with Intel Macs, it is made for PPC Macs. Thats why it could be slow and freeze if you install it on an Intel Mac (which is what you have).
