I've just bought speakers for my laptop with the mini jack connection by mistake. Is there an adapter available?

Howdy! Radioshack or any other electronics parts store will have the 1/4" to 1/8" adaptor you'll need. I assume the speakers have a 1/4" connector, not the red and white RCA connector?

Thanks for your help but it seems I need an ifire sound card adapter made by Griffin - it's been discontinued but I'm trying to locate one.

What kind of speakers did you buy? What connector do those speakers have on them?

The speakers are Harman Kardon with a mini jack. Apparently they are propriety Apple speakers but I can use a IFIRE sound card adapter made by Griffin, but it's been discontinued.

If by 'mini jack' you mean 1/8" then all you need to do is plug them into the headphone out and you're done.

The jack is about 1mm in diameter.

Actually you're right and I used to have the device you're talking about
: Uses a firewire connection to connect to the iMac Harmon Kardon speakers.
Found one on amazon but it's WAY over priced. I used to have one and got it for about $75 new:

I don't see any iFire's on ebay which would have been your best bet. Have you tried Craigslist in your area or the local apple store?
