just reinstalled 10.4.8 and this usb connected laserwriter 1200 hp stalls when trying to print... never prints until trying to shut down.. then it clears the print que and prints. I have read plenty of solutions but none works. Deleted printer updated driver.. nothing. Any solutions? or at least.. explanation? This is and Intel single processor. thanks

Please try two things for troubleshooting -
re-ADD the printer in Printer Setup with this alternate driver: HP Laserjet 4 Series, Gimp-Print, which is included in OS X.
Download and install this alternate USB driver called "usbtb" - get the .dmg Mac installer, not source code:
http://www.buymelunch.org/printing/usbtb/
Then Add again - this time pick the printer with usbtb beside it.

the usbtb worked great.. many thanks for your help. This has ended (for now) a saga that has taken hours to fix (4 hours with reinstall and various driver downloads and combinations)
