Description:
For over a year I've been running a CD-ROM Tutorial titled, "Improvisation presents Windows 95 for the Technically Challenged, and last month I began to get a MMTASK error message. (Please see attachment.) I unstalled the program, and now I cannot reinstall it as the MMTASK error continues to appear. I haven't find an e-mail address or 800 number for the vendor of the CD, Graphix Zone in Irvine, CA. Thanks, ever so much, for your help!

the mmtask is in windows\system do a find, files, & folders to see if you have it. you didn't say what you are wanting to do only that you got that mmtask error. if you can't get a copy of the corrupt file back into your machine then you are going to have to reinstall 95. check at http://www.files.com to see if ya can get a copy of it.
before you go installing 95 or anything else. do a Scan Disc, & a Defag. when you go into set the options on them (scan disc & defag) to do the most thorough cleaning that you can! have it auto fix errors convert to file check for bad dates & files, etc. do a good job on it. it should take at least 30 minutes or longer for each job. if you have a big drive. then try to reinstall your software. a scan disc & a defag should be done at least once a week for a good tuned machine. It's like changeing oil in your car. It is a must to keep it in good shape!
You also didn't tell us what version of 95 you are running. if it is 4.00.950 you need some patches/fixes from http://www.microsoft.com/windows96/info/patches.htm BUT NOT IF YOU ARE RUNNING 4.00.950b!!!
go to start, programs, accessories, systems tools, scan disc it 1st, then do the defag 2nd. then go to my computer, right click, properties, that will bring up the systems properties, in the right upper cornor it will tell you want version of 95 you are running & how much ram & so on is in your machine.
good luck
